Translator's certification statement: Urdu to English
A translation becomes "certified" when the translator signs a statement that it is complete and accurate and that they are competent in both languages. Here is a template for an Urdu to English translation, worded to the US rule and including the details the UK Home Office asks for.
I, [full name], confirm that I am competent to translate from Urdu into English, and that the above is a complete and accurate English translation of the original [document name, e.g. Nikahnama], to the best of my knowledge and ability.

Address: ____________

Email: ____________
Date of translation: ____________Why each line is there
- "Competent to translate" and "complete and accurate" come from the USCIS rule, 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) (Cornell LII).
- Date, full name, signature and contact details are what the UK Home Office asks a translation to carry.
- "Of the original" ties the statement to the Urdu document; attach a copy of the original behind the translation.
Who may sign it
USCIS asks for a competent translator. The UK and Canada usually expect a professional translator and do not accept a translation by the applicant or a family member. Canada (IRCC) asks for a certified translator or, if the translator is not certified, an affidavit sworn by the translator. Check your own application's instructions.
